Frank A Young
Frank was born on the 22nd of June 1876, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he also enlisted into the US Marine Corps in 1897. He was a Private when he deployed to China in support of the Boxer Rebellion and it was his actions there that would earn him the Medal of Honor. The citation reads:
In the presence of the enemy during the battle of Peking, China, 20 June to 16 July 1900. Throughout this period, Young distinguished himself by meritorious conduct.
Frank received the Medal of Honor on the 19th of July 1901, and he remained in the Marine Corps until 1923, reaching the rank of Sergeant Major after 26 years of service. I did not find any record of marriage or children and Frank Albert Young died on the 3rd of April 1941 at the age of 64 in the Mare Island Shipyard, California. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery: Section 17, Lot 18979-D.
