Louis B Lawton
Louis was born on the 13th of March 1872, in Independence, Iowa, and he graduated from US Military Academy at West Point in 1893. He deployed to China in support of the Boxer Rebellion, and it was his actions as a First Lieutenant in the 9th US Infantry that would later earn him the Medal of Honor. The citation reads:
Carried a message and guided reinforcements across a wide and fire-swept space, during which he was thrice wounded.
Louis received the Medal on the 11th of March 1902, and unfortunately not much else is known about his career, other than reaching the rank of Major. He was married to Theresa Kelsey in 1893 and they had two daughters. Louis Bowem Lawton died on the 9th of July 1949, at the age of 77 and he is buried with his wife in the Fort Hill Cemetery in Auburn, New York: Ridgeland Section, Lot 184, Grave 9.
