Frank Hill

Frank was born on the 13th of August, 1864, in Hartford, Connecticut and he enlisted in the US Marine Corps in Portsmouth, Virginia, in September of 1896 at the age of 32. He was a Private when he was deployed in support of the Spanish-American War and his actions earned him the Medal of Honor. The citation reads:

On board the U.S.S. Nashville during the operation of cutting the cable leading from Cienfuegos, Cuba, 11 May 1898. Facing the heavy fire of the enemy, Hill displayed extraordinary bravery and coolness throughout this action.

Frank received his Medal of Honor on the 7th of July, 1899 and when his enlistment in the Marines was finished, he enlisted in the US Army. Frank Hill was known to be with Company B of the 5th Infantry and Company E of the 15th Infantry and was discharged in California from the Army after two years with a disability. Unfortunately, there is no recorded cause or date of death, nor is there a place of burial.
